Draw the flashing. Get the price instantly.

Lamell, based in Kaišiadorys, Lithuania, manufactures sheet metal fences, gates, garden sheds and sheet metal flashings. We built their website and an online flashing calculator — a tool where customers draw any profile themselves, see it in 3D, get an exact price and order straight to the cart.

Lamell sheet metal flashing calculator: a chimney flashing profile drawn with dimensions, 3D preview, developed width and price

The calculator interface is in Lithuanian — it serves Lamell's customers in Lithuania.

In short: the Lamell calculator is a custom WordPress plugin we built, connected to a WooCommerce store. The customer picks one of 7 profile templates or draws their own, sets dimensions, angles and hems, and chooses one of 6 sheet types, a thickness and a colour. The calculator instantly shows a 3D view of the product, computes the developed width to the DIN 6935 standard and the price, checks whether the part can actually be folded, and lets the customer download a PDF drawing or put the product straight into the cart. We also built the whole lamell.lt website.

The challenge

A product that is different every time

A sheet metal flashing is a custom product. Every roof, chimney or window sill needs a different profile, different dimensions and a different colour — so there is no catalogue price.

To price it you need the developed width — how wide a strip of sheet will be folded. It depends not only on the dimensions but also on the bend angles, sheet thickness and material. On top of that, not every shape you can draw can actually be folded.

The goal was clear: let the customer configure the part themselves, see the exact price immediately and order it — while production receives an unambiguous drawing.

  • Drawing without any software — right in the browser
  • The price is calculated the same way production calculates it
  • Ordering without phone calls or emailing sketches back and forth

How it works

Four steps to the cart

01.

Sheet

Choose the thickness and colour. You immediately see whether it is in stock or made to order, and the production lead time.

02.

Profile

Start from one of 7 templates — angle, U or Z profile, window sill, drip edge, chimney flashing — or from a blank sheet.

03.

Drawing

Add segments, change dimensions and angles by clicking right on the drawing, add hems and choose which side is painted.

04.

Result

See the 3D view, developed width, area and price including VAT. Download a PDF drawing or put the part in the cart.

Templates

7 templates or your own profile

Each template is only a starting point: any dimension, angle or hem can be changed, and the 3D view redraws instantly.

Under the hood

It calculates like production does

A beautiful drawing without correct maths is just a picture. So most of the work went not into the interface, but into what happens behind it.

01

Developed width per DIN 6935

The strip width is calculated to the industry standard, with a K-factor that depends on material and thickness. The results were verified against the folding machine controller's own calculations.

02

Manufacturability check

If a hem would cross another part of the sheet, the change is reverted and the reason explained. As long as the drawing cannot be produced, it cannot be added to the cart.

03

Real pricing

The price comes from real per-m² rates by sheet type and thickness, plus a per-bend charge. It is calculated without VAT internally, shown with VAT to the customer, and a minimum order value applies.

04

Stock availability

Every colour and thickness is marked as in stock or made to order. Thicknesses that are not produced simply disappear from the list — customers cannot pick what does not exist.

05

3D preview

The part is rendered in 3D in real time — it can be rotated and zoomed, so the customer sees exactly what they are ordering.

06

PDF drawing

One click produces a PDF drawing with dimensions, angles and order details, with correct Lithuanian characters.

07

Cart or enquiry

The configured part goes into the WooCommerce cart with all its parameters and is paid for like any other product. Customers who want advice send an enquiry instead.

08

Comfortable editing

Dimensions and angles are edited by clicking right on the drawing. Actions can be undone and redone, the view zoomed, and dimensions switched between outer and inner.

09

Hems

Edge hems — a 180° flat hem or R1 and R1.5 loops — with the matching developed width correction, so the price reflects the real amount of sheet.

Mobile

On a phone too — all the way to the cart

A flashing often needs pricing while standing next to the roof or chimney. So the calculator works fully on a phone: drawing, 3D view, price and ordering.

The website

Not just a calculator — the whole website

We also built the lamell.lt website itself. The calculator is not a bolted-on widget but a natural part of it: the same design, the same cart and checkout.

  • Product pages: sheet metal fences, cladding, garden sheds, flashings
  • Project gallery and a clear path to an enquiry
  • WordPress and WooCommerce — the client manages content themselves
  • Calculator with cart and checkout

FAQ

Common questions

How is the price of a flashing calculated?
First the developed width is calculated — how wide a strip of sheet needs to be folded. It is computed to the DIN 6935 standard, taking into account the bend angles, sheet thickness and material. The developed width is multiplied by the part length and quantity, the chosen sheet's price per square metre is applied, and a per-bend charge is added. The customer sees the final price including VAT.
Can any profile be drawn?
You can start from one of 7 templates or draw from scratch, adding as many segments as needed. The only limit is production: the calculator does not allow a shape that cannot be folded, for example when a hem would cross another part of the sheet.
Can the part be ordered straight away?
Yes. The configured part with all its parameters goes into the cart and is paid for like any other product. You can also download a PDF drawing or send an enquiry.
Why was the calculator built from scratch instead of using ready-made plugins?
Typical price calculator plugins work with input fields and formulas. Here the price depends on the drawn geometry — angles, bends and hems — so we built the drawing tool and the calculation logic ourselves.
Can you build a similar calculator for our business?
Yes. We build the calculator around your product, pricing and production rules — it fits anything whose price depends on dimensions and options. Tell us about your product and we will assess how to show customers the price instantly.

Does your product's price depend on dimensions?

A calculator like this can be built for you too. Tell us about your product — we will assess how to show customers the price instantly.
